Although the fashion industry has adapted to the concept of sustainability and circularity by being selective in using eco-friendly trims in recent years, natural materials are still more expensive than synthetic polyester material. With prevailing cheap fast fashion, it is still difficult for natural materials like Corozo buttons to enter mainstream fashion for large-scale use. Global use of polyester is increasing every year on the contrary. In the garment button and accessory industry alone, the annual consumption reaches hundreds of thousands of tons.
In order to narrow the gap between the market’s demand for eco-friendly product and cost, our company has worked hard to develop three eco-friendly button material alternatives.
1) Eco-rozo Button
This eco-friendly button was developed to serve the market’s demand of reducing and reusing waste, while providing a more economical solution. The button is made from waste incurred during production of Corozo blanks and buttons, then formulated with polyester resin. Our founding formulation is patented in Italy known to be [eco-rozo].
2) Coffeewood Button
We are the first company to develop buttons from coffeewood material. We discovered that in order to ensure high quality coffee beans and yields, farmers must cut down large quantities of coffee tree trunks that are more than 15 years old. This allows coffee trees to generate new sprouts for better quality yields. In consideration of this, it led us to develop beautiful, eco-friendly coffeewood buttons utilizing discarded coffee tree trunks.
3) Bamboo Button
Bamboo is a natural resource that is abundant and readily available especially in China, near the western part of Guangdong Province where high quality bamboo raw material can be supplied. Bamboo can grow very fast and sprout very quickly in the wild without much human intervention. They can grow into thick and strong poles in just 2 years. This inexhaustible natural resource not only beautifies its natural environment, but now can be produced into elegant, useful buttons.
